Starting her career in 1987 under the name Emily Ashton, Mia Fisher has written over forty books in various genres before finally settling nicely into Romantic Suspense. She still goes off on a tangent every now and then and writes something like a Paranormal Romance, just to keep people guessing!
Born and raised in New England, Mia spent thirty years in the Midwest where she determined that she was not cut out for the cold. Thankfully she was raising four children at the time so she didn't have much time to sit still. This prohibited her from completely turning to ice.
Mia was married to screen writer, Robert Fisher, a full blooded Lakota/Cheyenne Indian. Both active forces within Indian Country, the couple were instrumental in having a state historical marker placed in South Dakota commemorating the location of the Hiawatha Asylum for Insane Indians before Robert's untimely death in 2011.
Once her children were grown and out on their own, Mia decided that she'd had enough of the frigid tundra so she moved to Florida where she attended grad school for her MSW and enjoyed the heat.
After graduation she relocated to the Pacific Northwest for an awesome job and then met the man who showed her that she could find love again less than a week after arrival...nothing like living a romance novel!
Mia works in the hospice field by day and continues to write by night - and when she's not doing either she can be found with her own personal cover model exploring the massive coastline right outside her front door!
